NEW DEALER ALERT - MANTLE

Next Sunday we will be welcoming Trend Forecaster and curator of beautiful things, Sadie Perry of Mantle.

Read on to find out what Sadie has in store for us next week.
1. Where are you sourcing from at the moment?
eBay, auctions and markets. I love getting out to antique centres in seaside towns or countryside areas that will have had the benefit of clearing houses that would have already been sifted through by dealers if they were in London - you can find the best hidden gems.

2. Do you have any highlights of the year?
I was lucky enough to go to Mexico for 3 months at the start of the year, where I was sourcing and meeting lots of amazing artisans. Many of them were women and came from generations of makers; it was amazing to see their unique perspectives and techniques. While I was there I also went back to one of my favourite places in the world, Casa Luis Barragán, which I always find very inspiring.

3. Best find of the year?
I collect Art Deco vases with interesting handles and have found some really great additions throughout the year.

4. One key piece you are bringing with you to the fair?
A silvered bronze sculpture of a calla lily on a black marble base by Mexican artist Yvonne Domenge (b.1946-2019). I found it in an antique shop in Mexico City, and at the time there was a retrospective of her work at one of the major galleries there that I had happened to stumble across the day before. I hadn’t heard of her prior to that so it felt like fate.

5. Do you have any exciting future plans?
I am starting to introduce Art Deco, Modernist and studio made jewellery pieces as well as objects, so I am looking forward to continuing to build on that collection and launch it properly.
